She Belongs on the Cover, because she was there!

Throughout history, women, regardless of background or skin tone, have always deserved to be properly showcased and appreciated. Differences weren't limitations; they were purposeful design. Through beauty, fashion, and visual storytelling, I restore what history ignored, using past and current decade references, colour theory, modern lighting and direction to highlight and expand the true beauty that was in every woman. “She belongs on the cover, because she was there.”

From melanin-rich skin that evolved to shield against the sun, to lighter tones that absorbed more light in colder climates, human features have always been a reflection of adaptation. Broad noses helped humidify hot, dry air; narrower ones suited colder regions. Coily and curlier hair protects the scalp from heat, while straighter textures retain warmth. Every feature of skin, lips, hair, and bone structure was shaped by environment, geography, time and survival. Over generations, environmental pressures shaped these traits, resulting in the rich human diversity we see today. Diversity was never accidental. It is intelligent, resilient, and beautiful.

This isn’t a diversity campaign. It’s a visual utopia. A new standard of beauty, built on truth, legacy, and inclusion without exclusion, honouring the past decades. Every woman. Every decade. Every face. Because she always belonged on the cover.

With over 10 years of experience behind the camera and a lover of history, I’ve always been inspired by the timeless imagery from the past in the world of beauty and fashion, but it never reflected the representation I had understood early on. I spent years in daycare from the age of 2 to 11, shaped by an environment where race was never the focus. As a Canadian-born female who never grew up seeing skin colour, I had the privilege of understanding that skin colour should never have been the determining factor for what was considered beautiful or worthy. We are genetically and purposefully all designed with the ability to survive our environments.

Industry Standard Equipment and Knowledge.

  • Commercial images are typically high resolution at 300 dpi, utilizing a camera with 45 megapixels or higher. This ensures sharpness and clarity even when printed in larger formats, providing greater flexibility in cropping and editing without significant quality loss.

  • Effective lighting is essential in commercial photography to illuminate the subject, add depth, and highlight details, particularly in beauty and fashion imagery.

  • Colours in commercial imagery are true to life and well-balanced, with accurate skin tones or vibrant hues. When applying colour grading to images, understanding colour harmony is essential for achieving balance in the use of colour.

  • Professional editing and retouching techniques are often used in commercial imagery to enhance the overall appearance, remove imperfections, and create a polished final result.
